JOHANNESBURG, Nov 29, 2010 (IPS/TerraViva) – South Africa is Africaâ€™s largest economy and the continent’s biggest emitter of greenhouse gases. The countryâ€™s emissions per capita are on par with those of the United Kingdom, and more than twice as high as Chinaâ€™s emissions by the same measure.

MELBOURNE, Australia, Nov 18, 2010 (IPS/TerraViva) – Environmentalists here are on the verge of a significant victory in their efforts to reduce Australiaâ€™s greenhouse gas pollution, as the Victorian state government negotiates with the owner of the countryâ€™s “dirtiest power station” to shut down the coal-fired facility.
