JIAJU, China, Oct 27, 2010 (IPS/TerraViva) – In 2005, the ‚ÄėNational Geographic China‚Äô magazine named this ethnic Tibetan village in western Sichuan province, sprawled over a valley wall amid snow-capped mountains, China‚Äôs most beautiful. Depending on how you look at it, that distinction was either a blessing or a curse.

NEW DELHI, Jan 21, 2010 (IPS) – The Indian government‚Äôs grant of the final environmental clearance to a Korean giant firm, allowing it to acquire 3,000 acres of ‚Äėforest lands‚Äô in the eastern state of Orissa, has prompted a fresh spate of protests from more than 4,000 families that will be affected by a proposed mining project.
