They didn’t give her anything, she also had to sweat the last international podium in the Champions Isl in Eindhoven and her third place in the 200 freestyle symbolizes a woman who never gives up. Federica Pellegrini would have liked to win, she tried, she also took the lead at 150 meters, but in the end it was the European long course champion, the Czech Barbora Seemanova, who reached in 1’54. “17 on the American Hali Flickinger 1’54” 36, then Fede third in 1’54 “53. Immense, at 33 years and 3 months after having won all and 89 international medals. And then the mixed men-women relay runs off to swim, with the humility and generosity of all time, putting themselves at the service of the second team of the Giunta team, the Aqua Centurions and reaches fifth place with a 53 ”32 fraction. On Tuesday, Fede will compete in Riccione in the 200 sl, the latest tribute to his club Aniene and to blue swimming.

Before going into the water, the Divine had told Sky: “The important thing was not to finish fourth. No, that’s fine. If you ask the little girl she would be very pissed off… It’s so hard to say goodbye, I won’t physically be able to go back to that 10 year old, but inside of me there is always that little girl who says: try it, try it, try it. After the Tokyo Olympics, if I hadn’t been offered the Isl, my career would surely have ended in Tokyo. I confirm: they were my last international competitions. The federation was very nice to me because they offered me both the Europeans and the World Championships in Abu Dhabi. I said no to the Europeans because I had the recordings of Italia’s Got Talent and most likely I will say no in Abu Dhabi. I say this reluctantly, but honestly at some point it is right to make a final decision “.

Miressi second

The last night of the Isl semifinals, the World Championships in short course swimming in Eindhoven. Games made – Energy Standard, London Roar and Los Angeles Current promoted – but emotions still to be experienced especially for those teams that will not make it to the Final Four. You compete for pride and the best internship placement. Starting with the Aqua Centurions, who defend the first place on the first day. Alessandro Miressi made the first blue podium in the 1100 freestyle: the Turin giant in 46 “81 touches 1” 11 from the American of the Condors Justin Ress (45 “70), who shoots a great pass in 21” 67 compared to the ‘light blue (22 “29). Third is Miressi’s teammate, the Russian Grinev, author of 46 ”92.

Other blue podiums

Alberto Razzetti who competes for the Toronto Titans starts stronger in the 200 butterfly but gives 83 cents to the standard bearer of the Condors, Wang, author of 1’50 ”99. On the podium also Chase Kalisz of the Condors in 1’53 ”12. Two Azzurri on the ideal podium in the men’s 100 backstroke: behind the Romanian winner Glinta from 49 ”84, there are Lorenzo Mora in 50” 17 and Matteo Rivolta 50 ”36, fresh from the great Italian record in the 100 dolphin. Nicolò Martinenghi 1 is third in the 100 breaststroke in 56 “89 behind team mate Arno Kamminga (55” 85) and American Fink (56 “58). Matteo Rivolta is second only to the world record holder, the Brazilian Nicholas Santos, in the 50 butterfly 22 ”09 against 22” 39, third Szabo of the Centurios in 22 ”51. Orsi pride Iron Orsi pride Iron An all-Italian podium in the 100 medley: the Bomber Marco Orsi gives in 51 “98 (23” 35) the success on Thomas Ceccon 52 “04 (23″ 38) and Alberto Razzetti (Tor) 52 ” 16 (23 “75), fifth Scozzoli (Cen) 52” 69. In the success of the Russian of Italy Borodin in 4’03 ”20, Alberto Razzetti (Toronto) also gained third place in 4’04” 06.

The verdicts

Finally, the verdicts, the last of which resulted from the male back skin race won by the Romanian Glinta, which allowed the Iron to beat Matteo Giunta’s team for 2nd place in the last state. Despite the best Revolt, for the trifle of 1 and a half points, the Centurions led by Giunta and led by Fede Pellegrini are third in the round but close together with the Iron of Orsi, Scalia, Mora and Cocconcelli in sixth place; first of the excluded are the Toronto of Razzetti and Zazzeri; in the final we will have only two Italians: Benny Pilato (already in the final in 2020, second with Energy Standard) and Sara Franceschi with Los Angeles Current.

Last round standings: 1. Cali Condors 532.5, 2. Iron Budapest 446, 3. Aqua Centurions 444.5, 4. Toronto Titans 331.

Final classification second phase (tutte 3 match): 1. Energy Standard, Cali Condors 11 punti, 3. London Roar 10, 4. Los Angeles Current 8, 5. Toronto Titans 6; 6. Aqua Centurions e Iron 5, 8. DC Trident 4.

Final Four (3 e 4 dicembre a Eindhoven): Energy Standard, Cali Condors, London Roar e Los Angeles Current 331.

The executive is not under investigation, but was heard for 9 hours as a witness on the company’s anomalous movements from 2018 to 2021

Federico Cherubini spent a different Saturday that he would have gladly done without. He was not in his usual position on the sidelines at the Allianz Stadium in the pre-match of Juve-Atalanta and not even in the stands, because he spent the day on the fifth floor of the Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office, first questioned in the “Prisma” investigation, the storm that caused invested the club but which could also have heavy repercussions on Italian football, which has long been struggling with increasingly losing budgets and hardly sustainable investments. In the investigation entrusted to a pool of magistrates of the Economy group, which is mainly based on wiretapping by the Guardia di Finanza, Juventus is involved for administrative responsibility and six executives (Andrea Agnelli, Pavel Nedved and Stefano Cerrato) and ex (Fabio Paratici, Marco Re and Stefano Bertola), under investigation for false communications from listed companies and issuing of invoices for non-existent transactions. Cherubini is not among the suspects, but he was heard as a person informed of the facts and is considered a key witness by the investigators, the one who most of all can confirm and explain “the Paratici management”, executive with strategic responsibility “author of the preventive planning of capital gains”.

Phrases and contracts

Cherubini entered the Prosecutor’s Office early in the morning and left when it was pitch dark. More than nine hours of interrogation to retrace the three years of financial operations, during which the Bianconero provided valuable elements for the investigation. Prosecutors Mario Bendoni, Ciro Santoriello and the deputy Marco Gianoglio asked him to contextualize many interceptions and clarifications on purchases and sales of players that fueled the capital gains mechanism. The investigation focuses on the 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons for a total figure of 282 million deriving from transactions “characterized by fraudulently increased values”. Cherubini (whose minutes have been classified) joined Juventus in 2012 as head of the youth sector. He worked on the Under 23 team before becoming Paratici’s number two and then taking their place last June, becoming Football Director. In the three years under investigation he was the operating arm of the former head of the sports area, now at Tottenham, and it is inevitable that he will be involved in many conversations. The manager was very collaborative, helping the prosecutors to rebuild the system set up by Paratici, which according to the accusation was based on capital gains used in a distorted way that caused an imbalance in the Bianconeri accounts and whose financial consequences, however, the board and Agnelli they were aware. Maximum cooperation also from the club during the 12 hours of search.

Serene Juve

It is not excluded that other executives may be called in the next few days, including the CEO. Arrivabene, the head of the Under 23 Manna and the secretary Morganti, whose offices were searched together with that of Cherubini and the suspects. Meanwhile, Juventus remains calm and confident, as written on Saturday in the press release, “to clarify every aspect of interest, believing that it has operated in compliance with the laws and regulations governing the preparation of financial reports, in compliance with accounting principles and in line with international football industry practice and market conditions “.

The club, promoted to the Top 10 only in 2019, has conquered the Calvisano field: the two boys, already decisive in the Under 18 of Italy, if they keep their expectations they are destined to become fixed points of the first blue team

The feat of the day in the 2nd round of the Italian Cup has the cheeky face of two 18-year-olds. If they keep their expectations, it could also become that of the Italian rugby of the future. Their name is Francois Carlo Mey, son of the former South African third line of the Gran Parma Riaan, and David Odiase, of Nigerian origins. A cross of nationalities now synonymous with talent in all sports, Marcel Jacobs docet.

The cup company

Mey da trocar centro and Odiase in the third line were the protagonists of the first historic victory of Hbs Colorno, promoted to the Top 10 only in 2019, on the field of the seven-time Italian champion Transvecta Calvisano. A breathtaking 23-21 that Filippo Frati, assistant to coach Umberto Casellato, summarizes as follows: “In the end I was with tears in my eyes for the commitment put in by the boys on the pitch. We defended 10 ‘in 13 on 15-21 (no contest scrum from 42’ and yellow to Jeremy Skelton at 54 ‘). Then Luciano Rodriguez throws in a drop of 40 meters (18-21) and 6 ‘from the end Alessandro Gesi invented the goal by going away from the lock. Incredible match, played with two 2003 boys for 80 ‘and Odiase elected man of the match. I still have the chills ”.

The blue company

Mey was born in Parma on 1 July and grew up in the Amatori Parma nursery, where he trained his father for years. Odiase was born in Crema on January 19th and is the product of Crema Rugby, where at 9 he touched an oval for the first time. They refined in federal training centers. For them it is the second undertaking in a month. The premiere on August 22 in Street, England. With Italy under 18 they beat the English national team 27-17. There too David played the whole game, Francois 66 ‘as captain. Double curiosity: the Italian teammate was Filippo Bozzoni, rival in Calvisano on Saturday. One of the 4 goals of Italy was signed by Simone Gesi, Alessandro’s younger brother.

Technical qualities

“Odiase has lived less of rugby – he goes from emotion to analysis Frati – He is a player who is more in training, but he has an impressive physicality and enormous potential, we are discovering this day by day in Colorno. In touche in Calvisano he solved many situations for us. For Mey we still have to figure out the best role. The national team uses him numbers 13 and 15. In the youth he played the opening half. For now we use it from the center. He has a leg, a left kick, he is good at defensive reading and ball in hand, he is more technically and tactically trained. It can become a center-opening from 1.90 to 103 kilos. Both are in the first team squad. We don’t want to burn them, but we don’t want to be afraid to use them either. We will give them all the minutes they deserve ”.

The situation

In group 2 of the Italian Cup in addition to the 23-21 of Colorno in Calvisano there was the 20-20 of Fiamme Oro-Rovigo in the big match of the day. Ranking: Gold Flames 7; Calvisano 6; Colorno 4; Rovigo 2; Lazio 1. In group 1 Mogliano-Lyons 42-26, Viadana-Petrarca 12-48. Classification: Petrarca 10; Valorugby, Mogliano 5; Lyons, Viadana 0. The championship starts on Saturday, 3rd round of the cup on Saturday 8 January.

The journalist had released this interview after his hosted on “Domenica In”: “What a mistake to go to TV in a wheelchair, but I discovered that people have not forgotten me”. A myth that tells itself

Roberto Pelucchi

Giampiero Galeazzi passed away today after a long illness. This is his latest interview with the Gazzetta dello Sport weekly “Fuorigioco”, released in 2019 after one of his last television appearances on “Domenica In”.

Look left, look right. And it goes to win. Once again. If you have seen Giampiero Galeazzi on Domenica In, under the holidays, in a wheelchair, suffering, very different from how we used to see him when he clung to Maradona or Avvocato Agnelli for an interview, well, erase him from your mind. TV is deceiving. “They’ve already given me the funeral on social media. But I’m still alive, huh. I was wrong to present myself that way. The truth is that I have just had an operation on my left knee, I move on crutches. The studio was full of cables and, in order not to risk it, an assistant thought it best to put me in a wheelchair ”.

And people thought he was seriously ill. Also because you said: I want to live the last 500 meters of my life well.
“I don’t have Parkinson’s, I have diabetes. Health goes up and down, like on a roller coaster. I have pressure changes, swollen legs. When I get excited my hands shake, but I’m not that bad. At 72 I also lost some pounds ”

Yet it was enough to see her in those conditions to unleash great displays of affection
“Unexpected. I received dozens of messages, I was overwhelmed by phone calls. There are even those who have referred me to doctors and specialists. Incredible”.

Can you rest assured?
“Of course, on the contrary, this return of popularity helps me. I realized that people have not forgotten me. I joined two different types of public: I was Pippo Baudo and Sandro Ciotti put together, an atomic bomb. I’d like to go back to work on TV. Today, to say, I will be back at my friend Mara Venier on Domenica In ”.

Have you ever regretted having succumbed to his flattery, ruining the image of a “serious” journalist?
“No, Mara changed my life. We were having dinner in a New York club with Renzo Arbore, during the 1994 World Cup, when he asked me to participate in Domenica In. I was already conducting 90 ° Minuto and she was good at gradually throwing me into the show. Criticism and envy of colleagues were immediately unleashed ”.

The director Marino Bartoletti did not want one of his journalists to sing and dance, dress up, and then conduct one of the top Rai broadcasts
“My wife Laura and my children Gianluca and Susanna also asked me if I had gone mad. Maybe in their shoes I too would have thought the same things. Bartoletti wanted to take me off 90 ° Minuto, he bombed me, I didn’t even have my post in the editorial office anymore. But I had the support of the director of Rai 1, Brando Giordani: he said that I had to be a journalist at 360 degrees. Mara too had gone sideways: don’t touch me Bisteccone, eh “.

Yes, the nickname that has accompanied it for decades
“I tell you how it was born. It was 1970, one day I had to go play a doubles tennis with Renato Venturini, who worked on the radio. I went to pick him up at the headquarters in via del Babuino and he introduced me to my colleagues in sport. I was tall and massive, so Gilberto Evangelisti came up with the phrase: Renà, who is this Bisteccone? “.

And so he also found work
“Venturini said that I had been a rowing champion so those on the radio asked me to bring the results of the races and little by little they put me in the editorial office. I worked from 8 in the morning to 8 in the evening, I brought the cappuccino to Ciotti, I read the results of the C on Sundays. In short, I did my apprenticeship alongside masters such as Guglielmo Moretti, my patron saint, Enrico Ameri, Ciotti himself, Rino Icardi, Claudio Ferretti ”.

Until he found himself at the Munich Olympics
“And for another stroke of luck I did my first rowing commentary. Mirko Petternella had been detained at the fencing hall and so I made my debut. With this sentence: ‘There is a lot of wind here, the flags look like wood’. Do you think bullshit … Roberto Bortoluzzi said from the studio: ‘Yes Galeazzi, go ahead’. He must have thought: if this is the beginning, let’s go well … Instead I got away with it ”.

More than good. And with the Rai reform he found himself on TV
“I didn’t want to leave the radio, I was great and I was hired. One day, however, while I was doing a rugby commentary in Rovigo, I received a phone call from the secretary of Emilio Rossi, the new director of Tg1. ‘Show up in the morning.’ They needed an editor because all the others had switched to Tg2 with Maurizio Barendson. Tito Stagno, ‘the man of the Moon’ and head of sport, had mentioned my name to the director and so I accepted ”.

Not without problems
“Moretti, my boss on the radio, said gruffly: ‘The day I find you bleeding on the street, I won’t help you’. Ameri, on the other hand, was more forgiving: ‘You did well: here you are the 35th, on Tg1 you can be number one’. In fact, I conducted the news, I did the reports for the Sunday Sports ‘my way’. Above all I could do the commentary on rowing and, with Guido Oddo, on tennis, another sport I knew well ”.

Right in the heyday of the Italians, by the way
“Staying in the ‘hole’ of the Foro Italico during the Internazionali d’Italia was a great professional gym. Too bad we missed the trip to Chile on the occasion of the Italian victory in the Davis Cup in 1976. The TV did not send correspondents – but the radio did – to protest against the Pinochet regime, so Oddo and I did the commentary from the ‘tube’. On the evening of the double victory, however, during the delayed match, Guido saw that Panatta and the other Azzurri raised the cup and anticipated the result, spoiling the surprise. Heaven open: we received dozens of phone calls from enraged viewers ”.

You remained a great friend of Pietrangeli and Panatta
“Nicola taught me tennis, Adriano graduated me, he made me understand the spirit of this sport. The Davis Cup was the top, now they have reformed and distorted it, taking away all its charm ”.

Which commentary were you most fond of?
“To that of Bonomi and Rossi’s gold in K2 1000 meters at the Sydney Olympics: ‘Look left, look right, Italy wins!’. Even if my name will be forever linked to the Abbagnale brothers. Yet the commentary of the victory in Seoul, which went down in history, was not even supposed to be there. The night before I was playing cards with Evangelists when news of a strike arrived. At that point, instead of going to bed, I wandered around Seoul, in the bars frequented by the American military. Only when I returned to the hotel at dawn did I discover that the strike had been lifted. I rushed to do the commentary without even the sheet of the finalists. I went aboard the boats with my voice, perhaps also out of a certain spirit of revenge after the great injustice suffered in 1968: Giuliano Spingardi and I deserved to participate in the Olympics in Mexico, we would have been in the final. Instead they excluded us and I saw those Games only as a spectator. That anger”.

The “screamers” commentators thus defend themselves from criticism: Galeazzi did it too …
“Yes, but Galeazzi was screaming for an Olympic or world final. Now there is also screaming for a goal in a neighborhood match ”.

Better services for the DS or the commentary?
“I am born and die commentator. I wasn’t as whimsical as the great Beppe Viola, but I knew sport and its dynamics. With the players there was a different freedom than now. I invented the pre-match interviews, when I got off the bus, and as soon as the match was over, I took the players under my arm and confessed them on the sidelines, first of all. Not to mention the champagne showers they gave me in the locker room during the championship parties. The idea of having Maradona interview his teammates after the victory was brilliant. For the last Lazio Scudetto I dropped a tennis commentary at the Foro Italico to go and celebrate ”.

Avvocato Agnelli invited her to dinner. That honor
“You couldn’t touch food until the lawyer started, but he ate very little. I was marked as a man for the whole evening by the waiter ”.

Nicola Savino of Radio Deejay imitates it very well
“I made him a millionaire. He told me: thanks Giampiè, you paid me half the house. He makes me laugh, he’s very good. Laura, on the other hand, got angry when Anna Marchesini was Galeazzi’s ‘blinded’ wife at Fantastico ”.

Is there any commentator today that you like?
“Pierluigi Pardo has followed my path in terms of sympathy, then he is a Roman, a pleasure-seeker. I liked Sandro Piccinini, now it seems too manufactured. Fabio Caressa seems to sometimes see other matches, but I don’t forget that in 2006 in Germany he was the only one to sting my hand saying: ‘Thanks Gian Piero, you were the one who opened a new path in sports commentary ”.

Do you watch TV a lot?
“Enough, now then I also subscribed to Zzz”.

Zzz? Maybe it means Dazn
“That. Diletta Leotta is beautiful and good. I would have liked to work with her. It tastes like pleasure, but it doesn’t matter. Not like her other colleagues who pull it off ”.

Gabriele Romagnoli, leaving the management, said that Rai Sport is like Beirut
“Line by line, I could say that he has done little to defuse the mines … Now as director there is Auro Bulbarelli, who knows the environment: we hope that he will bring order, with courage and firmness. The truth is that in the 90s Gilberto Evangelisti gave birth to the unified sports editorial team, he made it walk, but he didn’t make it run. There is always maretta. During the 1994 World Cup I took a kick in the stomach to divide Ignazio Scardina and Enrico Varriale who were fighting over a stuff of stolen tapes with interviews “.

You have been in Rai for 42 years: how did you manage to ride the wave for so long?
“With my professionalism, with my enthusiasm. I had no political godparents, me. Sandro Petrucci, colleague of Tg1, said that I had three souls: the popular one of football stadiums, the aristocratic one of tennis and the romantic one of rowing “.

And to say that he didn’t even think of being a journalist, did he?
“Already. I graduated in Statistics and for a few months I worked in the marketing and advertising office of Fiat. But the climate in Turin was very bad, I missed the sun of Rome, the dinners with friends, the days at the Circolo Canottieri, which was my home “.

His children are also journalists. What father was it?
“I was always out and about, sometimes I was able to pick them up from school, but I realize I wasn’t always there. Maybe I could have given something more from an emotional point of view. And at 50, I would have had to give up the life of a gypsy and pursue another kind of career. I didn’t think they would follow in my footsteps: Susanna is on Tg5, Gianluca works in the news at La7, but he would be interested in following sport ”.

Where would you see on today’s TV?
“To build programs. I’d like to remake 90 ° Minuto in a modern way. Now in football broadcasts there are too many technicians talking and little journalistic mediation “.

If Mediaset called?
“I am Rai branded. I don’t change “.

Look to the left, look to the right, and it is always the same, unparalleled Bisteccone.

The team with the best NBA record passes 105-90 in Los Angeles with 33 points of its star, which makes the difference in the fourth period

The best show of this first game of 2021-22 Nba does not disappoint even in Los Angeles. The Warriors take their circus to the Clippers version of the Staples Center, and come out with a 105-90 victory that testifies to how much Steph Curry in the mvp candidate version (33 points, including 13 to close the accounts in the fourth period of a game so far. balanced) isn’t the only reason Golden State has the best NBA record. Steve Kerr’s team is complete and deep, the best defense (orchestrated to perfection by Draymond Green but in which Andrew Wiggins shines more and more) and one of the most productive attacks. And for the moments. The Clippers are battlefield, not surprisingly they are the second most efficient defense in the NBA, but if no one gives Paul George a hand in attack as against the Warriors it becomes difficult to win. Especially if the best NBA team is up front.

The best

Golden State (18 won-2 lost so far) wins because it shows all its samples. Play the game the Clippers would like in the first half, a defensive battle. Then in the second half he brings out all his offensive potential. Curry, first of all. The way Steph closes the score in the fourth quarter is simply phenomenal, a burst of irresistible triples after a fight over the referees against which the Clippers can do nothing. It is not only his offensive omnipotence that makes him the best of this first part of the season: the 6 steals (one less than his career record) testify how much Curry has grown in defense and how much with age and experience he has understood how to do what serves the team. In addition to Steph excellent Wiggins, extraordinary in defense on George, Otto Porter Jr still very good off the bench, Jordan Poole only worked in the third quarter, but his 15 points were invaluable. Golden State thus wins the 7th game in a row and prepares for Tuesday’s challenge at the home of the wild Suns, who have an open streak of 16 successes.

Too alone

The Clippers (11-9) lost because George was too alone in attack. PG despite the 30 points did not, among other things, did nothing exceptional, limited by Wiggins when Ty Lue’s team needed it instead of being phenomenal. Reggie Jackson was missing, who was sensationally dry despite traveling at 18 points per game per game, Marcus Morris was only seen in the first half, who still has the excuse of being in the third game on the pitch after a long stop. Some flashes from Eric Bledsoe (13 points and 10 rebounds), but overall far too little for an attack that did not go beyond 40% from the field, a percentage adjusted upwards in the last minutes of garbage time. The Clippers have the defense to hold on to, but against Golden State they’ve had confirmation that without Kawhi Leonard they don’t have enough to match the NBA’s best.

the match

They command the defenses in the first half. The 19-12 that the hosts touched 3’37 “from the first siren with Marcus Morris (9 points in the first period) is the maximum gap of the first 24 ‘: at rest the scoreboard says 44-42 Golden State. with the Warriors shooting with 40% from the field and the Clippers with 34.1%. The guests try to escape with a volley of Curry for 55-44 after 4 ‘of recovery, but the hosts mend immediately (60-59). And at that point Golden State rediscovers Poole, non-existent in the first half (only 2 points) and yet capable of raging with 15 points to give the guests 75-68 at the third siren. Curry furiously quarrels with the referees at the start of the 4th period, then lights up for a sensational 13-point run that includes the 89-74 triple from sidereal distance that with 6’39 “from the end actually sends the match to the archive .
LA Clippers: George 30 (8/17 from two, 3/7 from three, 5/6 free throws), Morris 13, Bledsoe 13. Rebounds: Bledsoe 10. Assists: George 5, Morris 5.
Golden State: Curry 33 (5/9, 7/13, 2/2 tl), Porter 18, Poole 17. Rebounds: Porter 10. Assists: Green 7.

Who was the founder of the Formula 1 team. First of all an enthusiast who led his team to 16 world successes

The delicacy with which he moved the gloves on the guides of his wheelchair is the image of a sports manager capable of changing the balance between the big names who had dominated F1 until then, despite everything. The car accident that injured his spinal cord in 1986 made him even more determined. He was born on April 16, 1942 in South Shields, England. From then on, Frank Williams lived by shifting the genuine passion of British motorsport towards new horizons of international collaborations with sponsors, towards the search for engineering talent, the exaltation of the competitive spirit of drivers who were told to fight, before winning. Always a lion in friendly ways and keen eyes.

A team to lead the way

The stable was born in 1977 with courage and four hands, adding also those of Patrick Head, co-founder and technical guide for decades to come and in solitude, because Frank only liked the vision, the emotion that lions provide. Like Clay Regazzoni, who in the 1979 British GP gave the team its first historic victory, with a 25 ” advantage over the second. The first drivers and constructors title came almost immediately, in 1980 with Alan Jones. In 1982 Williams returned to win the title with Keke Rosberg, but it is the continuity with which they stood up to rivals that amazed the Circus. In 1986 it became even clearer how Frank saw his F1, that is muscular and spectacular, that is British and international together. On the Williams there was the fantastic couple, Nelson Piquet and Nigel Mansell, the man who will be Frank’s alter ego at the wheel over the years. An absolute talent in pure speed, with little consideration for mechanics, even for strategy. English with a bad temper if he could afford it, as Oscar Wilde would have liked, as Frank loved infinitely. In 1987 the World Championship is a full Williams duel between Nelson Piquet and Nigel Mansell, and none between McLaren, Lotus and Ferrari could do anything against the Brazilian and the English. Overflowing for technical equipment and sporting determination. Piquet got the better of it, but Mansell’s time would even come to mark the most brilliant epic of the Williams team. Frank had foreseen this with painstaking work towards a technical direction no one dared think of.

To the top and back

From 1988 to 1991 the great splendor of Prost and Senna’s Mclaren is remembered, but Williams was progressively growing in the exploitation of the Renault engine and in the application of electronics to the dynamic management of the chassis. Mansell finally became world champion in 1992, driving one of the most successful and winning single-seaters in F1 history, the Fw14 with active suspension which is still remembered today with an anthology demonstration of technical supremacy. Paired with our Riccardo Patrese, Mansell won nine races out of 16, but above all he aged the rest of the grid. This seemed like the turning point for Frank Williams, due to his very close relationship with Renault and the role he has now conquered within a disarmingly dominated F1. In 1993 Williams’ winning path continued with Alain Prost, who got into Williams to aim for the fourth world championship in his career after the three won with McLaren. The Frenchman, after the sabbatical year in 1992, succeeded after a great duel with Ayrton Senna and then decided to put an end to his career. It was the peak for Williams, even excessive for the rest of the grid, which with the new F1 regulations in force since 1994 made illegal the very heritage of active suspension on which the team had built its successes. The whole Circus took care of containing Frank’s dominance, and he played the Senna card to replace Alain Prost. It was not a lucky encounter, as will soon be discovered. The Brazilian will die in the third GP of the season, on 1 May 1994 in Imola, crashing in the race at the Tamburello corner in a tragic weekend. The horrible year for Williams ends amid controversy. The drivers’ title is lost by just one point in the last race in Adelaide with Michael Schumacher on Benetton, who wins on Damon Hill after a maneuver that is still very much discussed today. The trial celebrated in Italy for Senna’s death, however, marked Frank deeply as Williams returned to win the drivers’ and constructors’ titles with Damon Hill in 1996. Williams’ last double F1 title came in 1997, thanks to Jacques Villeneuve. The Canadian, son of Gilles, won the championship at the end of a fierce fight with Michael Schumacher which culminated in the accident in Jerez which resulted in the German being disqualified from the general classification. Williams remains among the four most successful teams in F1, with 114 first places and 16 world titles between 1980 and 1997, nine for the constructors and seven for the drivers. He and his daughter Claire managed the team together from 2013 until the sale to investment firm Dorilton Capital. In 1999 Queen Elizabeth granted him the title of Sir, but with the delicacy of his gloves on the guides of a wheelchair, he has always moved like a lion.

12 stages and a day of rest starting at the beginning of 2022: this is the program of the Dakar 2022 unveiled today in a live streaming with David Castera. The Classic category is making its debut

The Dakar 2022 will again take place, for the third consecutive year, all exclusively in Saudi Arabia. No Jordan, no neighboring countries. This is the gist of the 26-minute live stream in which David Castera, general manager of the Dakar, summarized the highlights of the 2022 edition. The most famous Rally on the planet will start from Hail, in the north of the country, on January 2 to end in Jeddah on the 14th of the same month after 12 stages and a rest day to be held in Riyadh, on January 8th, the capital.

The presentation

David Castera’s speech begins with the salient data of 2021, an edition held in the middle of the Covid period, which collected 2030 hours of television broadcasts, broadcast in 190 countries around the world with four and a half million fans following the adventures of the participants . First of all Castera talks about the Classic category, regularity and non-speed, entered for the first time this year and reserved for vehicles with over twenty years on their shoulders and already registered in the past – as a type of vehicle and brand – in the Dakar. In 2021 there were thirty at the start, but by 2022 the number is expected to triple as the director already confirms 60 suitors. Some technical news for this category: medium speeds, bivouacs, and navigation with the insertion of the dunes.

path

The vehicles will embark in Marseille in the second week of December 2021 and will reach Jeddah at the end of the year to be recovered from 26 to 28 by the participants who will go up by road to Hail to face the checks on 31 December and 1 January, the day on which there will also be a prologue. Departure on the 2nd from Hail heading south with at least three stages all on sand, dunes and boundless spaces, a marathon stage – in the old way as Castera specified – two round stages, a day of rest that arouses no little curiosity since the director general spoke of transfer by truck for vehicles and by plane for competitors. The second part of the race includes four very difficult stages, a lot of navigation and more dunes to the finish, once again in Jeddah.

TECHNICAL AND REGULATORY NEWS

Electronic road book for all cars, SSVs and trucks and experimental road book for motorcycles, reserved for the Elite category only, to be extended to everyone in 2023. Airbags still under test for motorcyclists and new categories for cars: T1 +, wider, with larger tires and greater suspension travel but less power, and T1E for alternative energy vehicles in an evolution are added constant that in 2030 all categories will compete with low-emission vehicles while in 2023 the first hydrogen vehicle will make its debut. In 2022, on the other hand, Audi’s participation is confirmed with a new project and even trucks will have a category for new energies.

The international competition for children will be part of the World Taekwondo Europe program with the aim of forming the elite of the new talents of the future

News from Fita. The federal council at the beginning of the year was held on Friday 31 January between President Angelo Cito and the federal members: for the first time in Palermo, in one of the rooms of Villa Niscemi, the meeting brought about changes and innovations especially on the youth level where it was signed the union between the Kim & Liù Tournament and the “Generation 24” project promoted by World Taekwondo Europe, a program that aims to train an elite of new talents. At the meeting it was also announced that the Italian Senior Black Belt 2020 Championships will be organized in Sicily, a return to the Region after the last edition of 2013 in Catania.

Generation 24

The Kim & Liù will touch the 15th edition this year and it was the first international competition for children of the discipline. The great event dedicated to children, defined by Cito as “the most beautiful sports project that the federation has created”, each year brings thousands of children and families to Rome to experience two dream days in the setting of the Nicola Pietrangeli Stadium of the Foro Italico . Young athletes between six and eleven years of age get involved in the future, and it is precisely towards the future that Fita is also aiming: the union with the “Generation 24” project of World Taekwondo Europe is aimed at training those who they will be the champions of tomorrow, aiming to ensure the presence of European athletes at the next editions of the Olympic Games in Paris 2024 and Los Angeles 2028.

In May in Rome

The project includes five competitions throughout the continent, divided for the occasion into as many regions: ours, called “Region 3”, includes in addition to our country also Andorra, France, Malta, Monaco, Portugal, San Marino and Spain and the he event will be the Kim & Liù tournament, which will also take place at the Foro Italico in Rome from 29 to 31 May 2020. On the Roman tatamis both children with white to blue belts, as always happened in the competition, and those with belts will climb red and black: only the latter, however, will be part of the project that will see the young people on the podium assigned the pass for the final stage in Bosnia where they will convene all the medalists of the 5 continental events. Furthermore, for the occasion, the names and categories were also updated in order to bring them into line with the European ones.

Return

Before opening the federal council, Angelo Cito also met with Sicilian technicians and athletes to present the new projects that will touch their region. Here the announcement of the great return of the Italian Senior Black Belt Championships took place which had not taken place in Sicily since 2013. The tricolor appointment will be held between November and December 2020, but the location will be defined in the coming months. But the news does not end there, because in addition to this race, the 2020 edition of the “Olympic Dream Cup” has also been set: the regional team competition will take place in Giugliano (Na), Campania, from 16 to 17 May.
