The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is holding the World Conservation Congress, 5-14 October 2008, in Barcelona.

In line with its mission, IPS TerraViva will be present once again to inform about and from the Congress. IPS TerraViva has selected a team of journalists from Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, England, Hungary, India, Indonesia, South Africa, Turkey and Zambia to cover the event, in an effort carried out with the support of IUCN. A printed daily TerraViva newspaper will be distributed amongst participants in Barcelona and it will also be available online at IPS TerraViva IUCN WCG 2008. In-depth stories on the ongoing debates will also be carried by IPS News.

Held every four years, the Congress aims to improve how we manage our natural environment for human, social and economic development. More than 8,000 of the world’s leading decision makers in sustainable development: from governments, NGOs, business, the UN and academia. Together in one place for 10 days: to debate, share, network, learn, commit, vote and decide. The objective: ideas, action and solutions for a diverse and sustainable world.
