As part of its ongoing commitment to capacity-building in the South, IPS joined forces with the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) to organise a three-day encounter between African journalists/editors and women politicians, on strengthening gender perspectives on election.

Continuing our media partnership with the Helsinki Process, IPS organized special coverage and proposed journalists from around the world to attend the HP Review Conference in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on 27-29 November 2007. The Conference was about “Inclusive Governance - Bridging Global Divides” and IPS contributed to the communication and media dimensions.

28 September 2007 - UNDP and IPS are please to announce the results of the first “Latin America and the Millennium Development Goals” Journalism Award. The winners were selected among 466 submissions by an international jury of five prominent personalities from the region’s cultural and communications fields.

Donne birmaneA seminar for Latin American journalists on the MDGs was jointly organized by UNDP, the Municipality of Montevideo and IPS Latin America with the support of the Italian cooperation agency. The seminar was opened by Ricardo Ehrlich, Montevideo Mayor, and Conrado Ramos, Deputy Director of planning and budget of the municipality.
