The annual IPS Support Group Meeting, was held in Venice, Italy, on November 29, 2007. The meeting focused on “The role of communication in the alliance among civilizations”. The event was co-organized with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and counted on the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Province of Venice. Read more »

This past April, the group of Friends of Inter Press Service organized a seminar on “The future of the World Social Forum A vision from the communication perspective”. Among key speakers were Ignacio Ramonet, Director of Le Monde Diplomatique, and Mario Lubetkin, IPS Director General.

The president of the IPS Board of Trustees, Roberto Savio, was invited as founding president of IPS to the second conference of the UN-sponsored Alliance of Civilizations in Doha, 26 February, urging action not talk to bridge the yawning gap between the Muslim world and the West.
