It was review and feedback time for the 38 Mekong journalist- fellows, who met in late March at a workshop in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, to present their stories, documentaries and photo essays on various cross-border issues about the Mekong region, which has been undergoing rapid economic integration over the last 15 years.
The Mar. 31-Apr 3, 2008 workshop was organised by IPS Asia-Pacific and Probe Media Foundation Inc, partners in the annual Imaging Our Mekong media fellowships that have been held since 2002. Read more »

On the occasion of the upcoming World Social Forum 2008: a Global Day of Action and Mobilisation, thousands of people all over the world will march, speak, celebrate, and dialogue in villages, rural zones, and urban centers, in the context of hundreds of decentralized self-organized actions. They will mobilize over a one-week period in January, culminating in a Global Day of Mobilisation and Action on 26 January to show that another world is possible. Read more »

The annual IPS Support Group Meeting, was held in Venice, Italy, on November 29, 2007. The meeting focused on “The role of communication in the alliance among civilizations”. The event was co-organized with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and counted on the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Province of Venice. Read more »

Mario Lubetkin, IPS Director General, was invited to Caracas, Venezuela to participate in the IV Summit for the Union of Latin America and the Caribbean. Lubetkin was a keynote speaker in the panel “Recuperation of public space and communication sovereignty”.

A seminar for Latin American journalists on the MDGs was jointly organized by UNDP, the Municipality of Montevideo and IPS Latin America with the support of the Italian cooperation agency. The seminar was opened by Ricardo Ehrlich, Montevideo Mayor, and Conrado Ramos, Deputy Director of planning and budget of the municipality.
