Albania SeminarIPS, in cooperation with the UNDP Albania, organised a journalists’ seminar on June 18-19 as part of the IPS-UNDP Albania project. The seminar was attended by nine Albanian and three IPS journalists from the region: Claudia Ciobanu (Bucharest), Zoltan Dujisin (Budapest) and Vesna Peric Zimonjic (Belgrade). The three spent several days gathering information about Albania and writing reports for the project.

Newly forged media partnership supports over 80 street papers, like The Big Issue, in 34 countries across 6 continents
The International Network of Street Papers (INSP), with its headquarters in Glasgow, actively encourages and supports the setting up of street papers worldwide to create opportunities for people who are homeless and are living in poverty. INSP papers also form a significant global media movement with a combined annual circulation of 32 million copies. INSP’s independent news service project- “The Street News Service” facilitates the sharing of quality copy and pictures between street papers internationally and provides access to news and features from key external partners.

The DG travelled to Glasgow to participate in the CIVICUS World Assembly and to the Media and Civil Society Dialogue jointly organized by CIVICUS, IPS and Oxfam-Novib, on the relationship between the media and civil society, with a broader aim to increase understanding between mainstream media and civil society in order to improve the quality and quantity of coverage that civil society issues receive.
