As government delegates, UN officials and grassroots women gathered for the two-week 57th Commission on the Status of Women, held in New York, from 4 to 15 March, IPS followed the negotiations and CSW’s main theme of how to stem the epidemic of violence against women around the world, in words and images. IPS Director General participated in the 5th United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) Global Forum that took place in Vienna (February 27-28), entitled “Responsible Leadership in Diversity and Dialogue”. President Al-Nasser, president of the IPS Board, took up his new appointment as High Representative of the Alliance in Vienna. Read more »

IPS in partnership with Thomson Reuters Foundation (TRF) worked with 21 journalists this week in Rome with a training event to coincide with IFAD’s General Council (GC) meeting. Journalists from all over the world joined the training, including participation from Nepal, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal and Burkina Faso. Read more »
