H.E. Mr. Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser
UNITED NATIONS, Oct 25 2012 (IPS) - The United Nations Association-New York (UNA-NY) honoured former General Assembly President Nassir Abdul Aziz Al-Nasser as the 2012 “Humanitarian of the Year”.
Speaking at a formal dinner during the award ceremony Thursday, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said that “Ambassador Al-Nasser has dedicated much of his life in public service helping to advance cross-cultural dialogue, diversity, peace, and development.” Read more »

IPS journalists have had a winning week in the Caribbean, in Africa and in Latin America.
Two of our journalists have won climate change reporting prizes awarded by the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) and the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA). The awards ceremony was yesterday, 17th October, in Antigua. Read more »

ROME, Oct 1 2012 (IPS) — H. E. Mr. Nassir Abdulaziz al-Nasser, president of the 66th session of the U.N. General Assembly, was unanimously elected chairman of the Board of Directors of Inter Press Service (IPS) news agency.
President al-Nasser replaces the former director general of UNESCO, Mr. Federico Mayor, who held the IPS Presidency between 2008 and 2012. Read more »

IPS welcomes Kim-Jenna Jurriaans who starts work this week as the IPS Online Content and Community Manager based at the IPS office in New York.
Prior to joining IPS as a correspondent at the U.N. office this year, Kim-Jenna has worked extensively in non-profit communications, including as head of communications for an international NGO supporting women development practitioners at the grassroots. Read more »

On September 18th IPS-Inter Press Service signed a broadcast agreement with the UN Department of Public Information, in the framework of the new IPS WebTV project.
With this broadcast agreement, IPS WebTV will be able to reproduce selected video materials from UN television programmes within its own programmes. Read more »
