Donne birmaneA seminar for Latin American journalists on the MDGs was jointly organized by UNDP, the Municipality of Montevideo and IPS Latin America with the support of the Italian cooperation agency. The seminar was opened by Ricardo Ehrlich, Montevideo Mayor, and Conrado Ramos, Deputy Director of planning and budget of the municipality.

Mario Lubetkin, IPS Director General, travelled to Brazil from 26 to 27 June 2007 to attend a meeting organized by the Brazilian government in the frame of India-Brazil-South Africa Initiative (IBSA) and to give continuity to discussions held in Rio during IPS meetings in 2006 where possible ways of cooperation between IPS and IBSA were identified.

A seminar on climate change was organized in Mexico with UNDP, UNEP. Among speakers were the Italian ambassador and Nobel chemistry laureate Mario Molina, who gave a talk at the opening of the seminar. Extensive participation of Mexican media to the event which had wide repercussion. Around 20 newspapers from different regions of the country participated to the seminar.
