IPS Africa, with support from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is holding a reporting on inequalities workshop from May the 22nd – 23rd. The workshop seeks to enhance journalists’ understanding of and reporting on inequalities to enable them to write analytical and thought provoking stories on this key issue. According to the U.N. Research Institute for Social Development, income inequalities between and within countries have worsened in recent decades, with citizenship and location continuing to determine life chances despite globalisation. IPS Africa, with the support of the Heinrich Boll Foundation Southern Africa, has published a handbook for journalists titled Climate Governance in Africa. It was launched recently in Abuja, Nigeria at a climate governance consultative workshop for journalists.

IPS Africa attended the 17th ICASA Conference on AIDS and STIs held in Cape Town, South Africa, from the 7th to the 11th December. ICASA is the biggest conference of its kind on the continent, with over 10,000 delegates attending.
As part of the coverage, we produced a daily TerraViva Conference Newsletter which is being emailed to delegates, and is also available on the IPS Africa Web Page www.ipsnews.net/Africa

IPS Africa has been invited as media partner to the annual conference of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit of Heads of State and Government, to be held on August, 17 – 18, in Lilongwe, Malawi.
IPS Africa will be present with a team of journalists to the number of side events to be held during the conference starting August 14th, leading up to the Summit of Heads of State and Governments, to produce 3 printed multi-lingual TerraViva’s. Read more »

An international team of IPS reporters and editors will be in Rome June 15-22 to cover the 38th Biennial Conference of the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO).
In addition to online coverage in print and video, IPS will produce a printed daily multi-lingual conference newspaper, “TerraViva FAO38.” Read more »
