IPS Africa has been invited as media partner to the annual conference of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit of Heads of State and Government, to be held on August, 17 – 18, in Lilongwe, Malawi.
IPS Africa will be present with a team of journalists to the number of side events to be held during the conference starting August 14th, leading up to the Summit of Heads of State and Governments, to produce 3 printed multi-lingual TerraViva’s. Read more »

An international team of IPS reporters and editors will be in Rome June 15-22 to cover the 38th Biennial Conference of the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO).

June 15-22 marks the 38th Biennial Conference of the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO). In addition to daily written TerraViva FAO38 coverage of the conference, the newly born IPSTV, is organising five televised Media Talks on issues related to media and food security.
The “Food and Media Talks” mark the beginning of IPSTV pilot phase that will lead to daily programs starting September 2013. Read more »

As part of an ongoing partnership with IFAD to raise the voices and concerns of smallholder farmers in West and Central Africa, IPS Africa is reporting this week from the IFAD regional forum in Banjul. A bi-lingual English / French TerraViva publication will be shared with all the delegates, telling the stories of young farmers from across the region. Features on new cassava varieties, continuing food security concerns, coffee production, solar power and irrigation schemes, and urban farming are contributed from Yaounde, Dakar, Kampala, Ouagadougou and Abidjan.

IPS journalists have had a winning week in the Caribbean, in Africa and in Latin America.
Two of our journalists have won climate change reporting prizes awarded by the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) and the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA). The awards ceremony was yesterday, 17th October, in Antigua. Read more »
