IPS was invited by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs to join the conference “Women Moving Mountains” (#wmm) marking the closure of the successful MDG3 Fund and the kick-off of its successor: Funding Leadership and Opportunities for Women (FLOW). You can follow ongoing IPS coverage of equality and empowerment at our gender news site, find us on Facebook or follow us on twitter @thegenderwire.

The event took place on 20, 21 and 22 November 2012 inThe Hague, The Netherlands. MDG3 grantees were offered the opportunity to look back on the granting period and exchange the most important lessons learned on advancing women’s rights and protecting past gender equality gains globally. Read about IPS’ MDG3 work and profiles of ten other grantees here Telling “Herstories” – Inside stories of empowerment from MDG3 Fund.

On the second day, FLOW-grantees entered the scene to start working together and translating the lessons learned by the MDG3 Fund. This gave both grantee communities an excellent opportunity to strengthen the network of women’s movements worldwide.

The MDG3 Fund’s closing conference culminated in some valuable action points, such as organizing a side-event for the upcoming CSW on the importance of funding women’s organizations to combat violence against women.
