IPS Asia-Pacific

Set up in the 1980s, IPS Asia Pacific has overseen the direction of IPS work in the areas of editorial and media development in the region. Today, IPS Asia Pacific Center Foundation Inc. is duly registered in Bangkok, Thailand and Manila, the Philippines. It also has a bureau in New Delhi, India.

Capturing voices from Asia is at the centre of the work of IPS Asia Pacific. IPS places a premium on reportage by writers from the region on issues and events relevant to the developing world. Thanks to its broad network of writers and contributors (see box on the right), IPS Asia Pacific offers readers a unique perspective on the evolution of the world’s fastest growing region.

Besides producing stories that go into the IPS news service , IPS Asia Pacific develops and undertakes regional news products. News and communication projects include: training and fellowships, development of media tools, production of conference newspapers, publication and editing of books and reports, and development of websites. Further information can be found on the IPS Asia Pacific institutional website .

IPS Asia Pacific receives support from the IPS International Association , and from regional partners that include or have included the Rockefeller Foundation, Asian Development Bank, Oxfam America, Sasakawa Peace Foundation, Japan Foundation, ILO Informal Economy Project, UNICEF East Asia and the Pacific, ActionAid International, Ford Foundation, U.N.
