IPS Europe

IPS EUROPA | IPS EUROPE is the acronym for IPS–Inter Press Service Europa gGmbH, a public benefit organization set up in April 2004 as regional office for Europe and the Mediterranean. It was officially inaugurated at a public event on April 28, 2005 with an address by Eveline Herfkens, UN MDG Campaign Coordinator.

Before IPS EUROPE was set up, IPS Germany functioned as a de facto regional entity for more than five years. The new regional entity was set up by the IPS International Association with a nominal capital of Euro 25,000. It is a founding member of the IPS International News Agency along with regional entities in Africa , Asia–Pacific , Latin America and North America and the IPS Columnist Service.

IPS EUROPE owes its public benefit status to the mandate it has given itself: to facilitate worldwide co–operation for the benefit of international understanding. According to its statutes, this objective is to be achieved by:

development and environment–related educational and informational work

exchange of information about Germany and foreign countries that relates to international co–operation and international understanding

    inter–cultural encounters, communication and training.
