IPS North America - Projects and Publications



IPS North America concentrates on coverage of the United Nations ([1] and [2]) as well as UN related issues including: population, gender, the Millennium Development Goals, indigenous people, sustainable development, sanitation, and civil society.

IPS North America’s Washington Bureau coordinates coverage of the Washington political scene, including the White House, Pentagon, State Department, the rise of neo–conservatism and the ongoing war in Iraq. The Bureau also covers International Financial Institutions, including the World Bank and International Monetary Fund.

The TERRAVIVA UN JOURNAL, published Monday through Friday by IPS North America since 1993, is an important communication tool for policy makers in the United Nations community.

In addition, IPS North America has published many special editions of TERRAVIVA to coincide with special events at the United Nations. Some examples include:

    a special edition was published covering the Millennium Summit in 2000.

    a daily newspaper was published on the occasion of the UN World Summit on the MDGs, 14–16 September 2005 (download .pdf: [1], [2], [3])

    A TERRAVIVA JOURNAL was published in September 2006, in association with the UN Office for Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (dowload .pdf).

 

With a view to providing budding journalists a global perspective, IPS North America’s UN Bureau Internship Programme hosts students and young professionals from around the world.

IPS Nothamerica

IPS North America has a growing network of journalists all over North America and the Caribbean as well as the United Nations and Washington, D.C. IPS covers the region from: Anchorage, Berkeley, Boston, Bridgetown, Kingston, New York, Ottawa, Miami, Montego Bay, Montreal, Port–Au–Prince, Port-of Spain, Queenstown, San Juan, Seattle, Toronto, Vancouver and Washington, D.C.
