mekong-6-cover-small_BANGKOK - Whether it’s a story about how rubber plantations are taking root at the China-Laos border, how Thai is having an impact on the Lao language, or the use of harmful fishing methods in Cambodia and Vietnam, all the features and photo essays in the book ‘Changing Borders: Reportage from Our Mekong’ follow the changes that have been taking place as economic integration and cross-border linkages continue to deepen among the countries in the Mekong Region.

‘Changing Borders’ (211 pages) contains the work produced by 16 journalists from Cambodia, China, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar and Vietnam as part of their fellowship under the sixth cycle of the Imaging Our Mekong media programme (2007-08). It is edited by IPS Asia-Pacific Director Johanna Son.

This book is the sixth compilation of articles and photo essays published by IPS Asia-Pacific (www.ipsnewsasia.net) in the Imaging Our Mekong series. As of end-2008, the annual Mekong media programme, which IPS Asia-Pacific implements with Probe Media Foundation Inc (www.probefound.com), has worked with some 220 journalists from print, photojournalism and TV since 2002.

Information about the previous books are available in the ‘Products’ section of http://www.newsmekong.org/
