Ann Ninan Development Editor Ann Ninan works closely with the Editor in Chief and Projects Director to keep track of IPS’ commitment to report independently on issues connected with the quality of people’s lives. IPS has been the constant voice of communities and NGOs in the global South. She also forms part of the editorial team. Ann has worked with Indian and other media. She started with India Today, then India’s best-known news magazine. From 1988 to 1990, she worked with the New York-based India Abroad newspaper. She then joined Inter Press Service for nine years as South Asia editor in New Delhi. She built up a network of correspondents and stringers who covered six of the region’s seven countries, and the Gulf. IPS reported on the First Gulf War (January – February 1991) from Abu Dhabi at a time when most media outside the region were unfamiliar with the Gulf’s geography and history. From 2000 to 2003, she free-lanced as a reporter and researcher for Indian newspapers and websites. A year later, she joined Tehelka, a national newspaper, as one of its founder editors. Ann has a Masters in Modern Indian History from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Ann joined IPS in January 2006. |
