The annual IPS Support Group Meeting, was held in Venice, Italy, on November 29, 2007. The meeting focused on “The role of communication in the alliance among civilizations”. In the frame of the initiatives organized for the MDGs mid-term review, Sabina Zaccaro in Rome coordinated for IPS the Local Governments’ International Mid Term Evaluation Conference on the U.N. Millennium Development Goals, a joint initiative of IPS, the Municipality of Rome and United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), held in Rome on 22 and 23 June 2007. Mayors of all over the world attended the Conference.

IPS, in cooperation with the UNDP Albania, organised a journalists’ seminar on June 18-19 as part of the IPS-UNDP Albania project. The seminar was attended by nine Albanian and three IPS journalists from the region: Claudia Ciobanu (Bucharest), Zoltan Dujisin (Budapest) and Vesna Peric Zimonjic (Belgrade). The three spent several days gathering information about Albania and writing reports for the project.
