28 September 2007 - UNDP and IPS are please to announce the results of the first “Latin America and the Millennium Development Goals” Journalism Award. The winners were selected among 466 submissions by an international jury of five prominent personalities from the region’s cultural and communications fields.

Donne birmaneA seminar for Latin American journalists on the MDGs was jointly organized by UNDP, the Municipality of Montevideo and IPS Latin America with the support of the Italian cooperation agency. The seminar was opened by Ricardo Ehrlich, Montevideo Mayor, and Conrado Ramos, Deputy Director of planning and budget of the municipality.

In the frame of the initiatives organized for the MDGs mid-term review, Sabina Zaccaro in Rome coordinated for IPS the Local Governments’ International Mid Term Evaluation Conference on the U.N. Millennium Development Goals, a joint initiative of IPS, the Municipality of Rome and United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), held in Rome on 22 and 23 June 2007. Mayors of all over the world attended the Conference.
