Abu Dhabi hosted a series of events this week tackling the planet’s big sustainability challenges, especially around energy and water. IPS reported from Abu Dhabi throughout the week and you can read all the coverage at the TerraViva Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week sites in English and Arabic.

These publications were distributed daily in print among the 30,000 participants joining events including the World Future Energy Summit, the International Water Summit and the Abu Dhabi International Renewable Energy Conference.

Energy stories included the winners of the 2013 Zayed Future Energy Prize, Queen Rania of Jordan reflecting on power and empowerment in her keynote speech, how the MENA region is facing up to its own energy crisis and a strong focus on renewables.

Water coverage featured issues like the looming water crisis in the Middle East region, the potential of desalination and how to do it sustainably, and a backgrounder on the Water Summit.
