Where: RioCentro P3-7
Categories: Event

Inter Press Service (IPS) the news agency that has been reporting issues and processes beyond the daily news for the past 50 years, is now stepping into web television. IPS TV as it will be called, will launch a pilot phase in 2013 of daily broadcast through the web.

The broadcast from Monday to Friday will be complemented with special programmes on the weekend. The studios will be based in Rome, but IPS TV will be international, drawing on more than 400 journalists in 140 countries, many of them with substantial expertise already in the visual media. As with the news service, the television production will focus on issues behind and beyond the news of the day.

IPS is launching into television given the great hunger worldwide for audio-visual coverage in this
field: IPS TV will be the first web channel that is focused exclusively on these issues, and to
promoting, and provoking, discussion and understanding of these issues through tough and probing
interviews, and through on-the-ground coverage of developments in places where regular channels
have little presence. This will be the stuff of IPS TV, not the occasional dip it is for most channels.
