IUCN, the International Union for ConservationÂ of Nature, is a long standingÂ member of COM+. It helps the world findÂ pragmatic solutions to our most pressingÂ environment and development challengesÂ by supporting scientific research; managingÂ field projects all over the world; and bringingÂ governments, NGOs, the UN, internationalÂ conventions and companies togetherÂ to develop policy, laws and best practice.
The worldâs oldest and largest global environmentalÂ network, IUCN is a democraticÂ membership union with more than 1,000Â government and NGO member organizations,Â and almost 11,000 volunteer scientists and experts in some 160 countries.
The IUCN World Conservation Congress isÂ the worldâs largest and most important conservationÂ event. Held every four years, theÂ Congress aims to improve how we manageÂ our natural environment for human, social
and economic development.
The 2012 World Conservation CongressÂ will be held from 6 to 15 September 2012Â in Jeju, Republic of Korea. Leaders fromÂ government, the public sector, non-governmentalÂ organizations, business, UN agenciesÂ and social organizations will discuss,Â debate and decide solutions for the worldâsÂ most pressing environment and developmentÂ issues.
